From Learner to Leader:

The Empowering Journey of Completing Clinical Supervision

Selecting the right supervisor is one of the most crucial career decisions you'll make. They’ll not only help sharpen your skills, they also guide your growth and shape your future as a therapist.

Supervision deeply influences how you refine your therapeutic skills and can open doors for your future career. My approach centers around Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). However, we focus on the areas you’re passionate about improving. For example, if you feel drawn to a more narrative style, I’m excited to adapt and explore that journey with you. Together, guided by my supervision, we’ll build a path that aligns with your vision, making our work a collaborative and transformative experience.

What’s included?

Supervision is my advocacy and passion. At each step of my career, I’ve consistently found myself training, onboarding, mentoring, and eventually leading. Likewise, I’ve had unbelievably helpful and inspiring supervision and underwhelming supervision. No judgment; sometimes, it’s more about the fit and life’s timing. Each opportunity helped me learn how I want to show up for the inspiring people who have worked with me. I follow a sign my sister and brother-in-law gave me when I opened INSPIRED; it says, “Be the change you wish existed.” The sign represents a central value to my motivations and efforts to innovate and grow the impact supervision can have. Ideally, when you finish your hours, you’re eager to submit the upgrade application and embark on the next stage of your journey entirely independently. I often remind us that our growth is in pursuit of our future as a Clinician with Competence and Confidence.

ALSO: Access to a shared drive for your go-to for quick and easy reference to key materials like:

  • The most commonly encountered ethical guidelines

  • A log to track your hours and templates for documenting supervision for your records

  • Business development insights

and

  • standard operating procedures

    • Three steps to answering a call from a potential client

    • Social Media posting

    • Blogging

  • It all begins with an email or a phone call. Here we talk about where we’ve come from and where you’re headed and ensure the basics of a good fit. At the end of the phone call, if we agree to the next step, we’ll finish scheduling a longer interview (step 3). You’ll also get an email with Step 2 inside.

  • I’d like to invite you to complete a supervision questionnaire as we work toward making a fully informed decision. This questionnaire explores your view of business, counseling, growth, and ethics. There are no wrong answers; it’s a baseline. This helps us do two things.

    1. This questionnaire enhances the discussion during the interview. I’ve attended interviews that were often surface-level and presented a missed opportunity. Instead, we can discuss your answers to the questionnaire and what levers you and I decided would be our first choice.

    2. We will also use this questionnaire to evaluate at different times to reflect the growth you’ll make over time.

Whether you decide to work with me or you decide another supervisor would be a better fit, I hope this survey helps you. Where we focus, we grow. This is intended to help you concentrate and intentionally grow to become the incredible clinician you will become.

  • We’ll meet for 30-60 minutes to review the questionnaire and learn more about what you’re looking for. At the conclusion of the interview, we’ll take 24 hours to process. The next day I’ll follow-up and if you agree as well, we’ll complete the necessary forms!

  • The entire process of supervision is dynamic. Initially, I’ll lead the first few because we have onboarding and paperwork to get sorted. You’ll receive:

    1. Access to Supervision Resources (such as trainings, referrals, marketing lessons, etc.).

    2. Electronic Handbook (Contains all the spreadsheets 🤣, from financial sheets and hours logs, to session note templates and goal sheets).

    3. Network of Connections (Learn who’s in the community that you can reach out to and introduce yourself to).

Each supervision session starts with recaps from learning or growth, case consultation and guidance. These can contain, with appropriate releases, video and audio recordings or verbal recap. We can also talk about trainings, upcoming networking events, and if you desire we can teach business skills.

  • You can work wherever you need to to make a living. Whether you’re working at:

    • Hospitals (inpatient, residential, PHP/IOP)

    • Community Mental Health

    • Private Practices (either mine or another practice)

    • Advocacy Centers

I’ll work with you and your location supervisor to provide the best supervision possible.

  • I’m in the office Monday - Thursday from 9am - 5pm.

For outside supervision I charge $100 per supervision session.

For people working at my practice, I offer a 60/40 split. You take home 40% of gross revenue from the clients that you see. Your supervision will come from the 60% from your sessions.

Example: if you see two clients a week and charge $100 per session = $200 gross : 60% = $120 and 40% = $80. Thus, you would receive a paycheck of $80 for those two sessions and not have to pay for supervision that week.
